Donald Trump does not decide

During a press conference, Trump stated that he would not allow Israel to annex the West Bank. The name is not the West Bank—that name stands for the Jordanian occupation during the War of Independence. It is a name given with the same purpose as the name Palestine: to erase all Jewish history from the land. The Roman emperor Hadrian started this, and that same spirit, from the realm of darkness, is still active today. That Donald Trump gives in to political and economic pressure is clear, but that is nothing new. We also read about this in the Bible:

Now give the command to make these men cease, that this city may not be built until the command is given by me. Take heed now that you do not fail to do this. Why should damage increase to the hurt of the kings? Now when the copy of King Artaxerxes’ letter was read before Rehum, Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem against the Jews, and by force of arms made them cease. Thus the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem ceased, and it was discontinued until the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia. Ezra 4:21-24 NKJV

The temple was not rebuilt. The enemies first tried to obstruct the rebuilding through flattery (Ezra 4:2–3). Zerubbabel’s response was clear (Ezra 4:3). Then the true nature came to the surface. The opponents did not want to rebuild at all and turned King Ahasuerus against the Judeans. It seemed like a victory for the adversary, but in the end the temple and Jerusalem were rebuilt.

The good news is that Donald Trump has no say over the annexation of Judea. He thinks he can decide, just as he thinks he can make a deal for Gaza. But he has still not succeeded. Hamas cannot defeat Israel and has rejected every agreement. If God hardens your heart, no one can do anything about it—not even Donald Trump. Pharaoh’s heart was also hardened by God (Exodus 7:3–5). And he too stopped listening to counsel (Exodus 8:19). The earth, including Hamas, will know that Israel’s God is the LORD, and the same goes for Donald Trump.

Trump has helped Israel by providing weapons that Biden withheld. He helped Israel in the war against Iran, but he remains a politician with America first. And that also comes at the expense of his ally. Human help is vain, but God’s help is not. God said the following about the land:

Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “I will gather you from the peoples, assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.” Ezekiel 11:17 NKJV

The land of Israel will be given to them by God. And that land is much larger than the present-day Israel. How and when this will happen, I do not know. I know that God is faithful to His promises and that He does what He says. He does not negotiate like Trump—He fulfills what He promises. That is certain, and the whole earth will know that Israel’s God is God—the Father of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
